Kelly Longthorne joined Effler Schmitt Co. in 2018 as a Marketing Specialist and has since taken on a multifaceted role as a licensed Real Estate and Insurance Agent and the firm’s Brokerage Transaction Coordinator. As part of the Effler family behind Effler Schmitt Co., Kelly works alongside her father and brother and takes pride in contributing to the continued success of the family business.
A graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, Kelly earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo. Before joining Effler Schmitt Co., she gained professional experience in the steel and roofing industries, developing a background in marketing, business operations, and client relations.
Kelly brings strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and attention to detail to her work. Her involvement in various aspects of the brokerage has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of real estate transactions, from marketing and initial negotiations through contract management and closing. She values being proactive, anticipating potential challenges, and helping develop practical strategies and solutions throughout the process. Her ability to communicate effectively and work with different personalities is an important part of her approach to keeping transactions organized and moving forward.
In addition to working with buyers and sellers, Kelly supports the firm’s day-to-day operations, transaction coordination, marketing, and business development efforts. Balancing these responsibilities has strengthened her ability to manage competing priorities, stay organized, and maintain consistent communication with clients and other professionals involved in a transaction.
Kelly believes that real estate and insurance are ultimately about people and relationships. She enjoys getting to know her clients, understanding their individual needs, and providing clear, thoughtful guidance. She values honesty, responsiveness, and building relationships based on trust that extend beyond a single transaction.
Outside of work, Kelly lives in Ottawa Hills with her husband, Ross, and their son, Jack. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and staying connected to the community she has called home for much of her life.
